Darryll is a senior strategic communications executive with over 20 years’ experience in international corporate, consumer and business-to-business environments. His managerial experience includes public and media relations, crisis communications, social media, branding, marketing, internal communications, sponsorships, and community relations.
 

Darryll L. Fortune is president of Small Fortune Public Relations & Marketing.

Most recently, Darryll served as Director – Corporate & Public Relations for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, a 153-year-old mutual company headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisc. From 2010 – 2012, he led the function to develop and execute on integrated communications strategies, including external solutions that lift the brand and inform, educate and influence target audiences.

Darryll served as Director- Global Public Relations for the Building Efficiency business at Johnson Controls, Inc., headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisc., from 2001 – early 2010. Fortune had global responsibility for identifying, implementing and evaluating public relations opportunities globally for the company. He worked with senior management to align PR with company strategy.

Prior to joining Johnson Controls, Fortune worked at Sprint Communications in Kansas City, where he held various marketing and public relations positions, including public relations director for Sprint PCS, senior manager - internal communications, corporate communications manager and marketing communications manager of the business markets organization.

 

Darryll earned a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. His strength and drive come from his wonderful wife and two lovely daughters.
